Iaccarino Sorrento Limousine service will be pleased to drive you to the Royal Palace of Caserta and its magnificient gardens and in a local winery located at the feet of Mount Vesuvius for lunch with wine tasting.
Our English speaking driver will pick you up at the Sorrento or Naples Hotel in the morning at 8am and drive you directly to the city of Caserta. Here you will be able to visit the largest Royal Palace in the world with its 5 floors and more than 1200 rooms. This huge building was constructed for the Bourbon Kings specifically from Charles VII in 1752 that worked closely with his architect Luigi Vanvitelli. The political and social model for Vanvitelli's palace was the Royal Palace of Versailles in France. In 1997 it served as a filing location for Star Wars but also in the movie Mission Impossible III.
After visiting the most important side of the Royal Palace you will have the opportunity to take a stroll in the amazing Park that starts from the back façade of the palace flanking a long alley with artificial fountains and cascades. It is suggested to visit a botanical garden, called "The English Garden", in the upper part designed in the 1780s by Carlo Vanvitelli and the German-born botanist, nurseryman, plantsman-designer, John Graefer. In Caserta you can walk for 3 hours into the site on your own or hire an official licensed guide.
The tour will continue to the Cantina del Vesuvio, a winery that was born after the last eruption of the Volcano Mount Vesuvius (in 1944) where you can taste the famous wine called "Lacryma Christy" (tears of Christ). Here you will be served 5 wines (white, red and rosè), 1 spumante and 1 distilled of apricot all accompanied with our typical food specialties of the Campani region (like Bruschetta with salame and provolone, speaghetti with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil to finish with a Pastiera Napoletana, a ricotta and corn pie typicall of Easter time).
The tour will finish at the Sorrento Hotel or Port at 4pm.
