Begin by visiting the ancient Roman town of Pompeii for 2 hours, where you'll see the remnants of the city buried by volcanic ash during the 79AD eruption of Mount Vesuvius. You have the option of exploring on your own or arranging a licensed guide.

Next, head to Herculaneum, another ancient city buried by lava and mud flows during the same catastrophic eruption. This city is much better preserved than Pompeii and you will have 1.5 hours to explore on your own or with an official licensed guide.

Afterwards, visit Cantina del Vesuvio, a local winery at the foot of Mount Vesuvius offering stunning views of Capri, Sorrento, and the entire Bay of Naples. Here, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch of bruschetta, salami, provolone, homemade bread with extra-virgin olive oil, spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil, and the traditional Neapolitan Easter cake "Pastiera Napoletana." The meal is accompanied by 4 different types of wine, a sparkling wine, and a distilled apricot (or Grappa).
